Betty Meade

Betty Meade has been involved in the pipe band world in a support position since the early 1970s. After marrying Bob
in 1973, she became a full-time "Band Wife". In this capacity, she lugs, totes, carries and otherwise provides food,
beverages, first-aid kits and anything else the boys need for games and performances. She also handles a lot of the
games-day sales for Meade Custom Drumming Supplies.

For MCDS, Betty is a key player. A skilled seamstress and crafter, she has been sewing fur covers for Meade Custom
mallets since Bob made his first pair of mallets. To this day, she personally sews the fur covers and hand-crochets the
"thistle" covers for the traditional flourish tenors.

Additionally, Betty's sewing and crocheting has been invaluable to many bands in the Mid Atlantic region. She alters
and hems kilts as needed, repairs band socks, knits band socks for children and other hard-to-fit players, and makes
sock flashes. She also sews Highland dance costumes - vests, skirts and hornpipe suits. To contact "Mom" Meade to
alter, repair or replace your items, email her at

Dawn Bickerstaff Meade
Dawn Meade has been a dancer since the age of 3 and won national championships in pointe, tap and jazz with her
former studio. She double-majored in English and Dance at Dickinson College, where she hand-coded her first web
site in 1995. A year later, she met Harry at the Richmond Highland Games and started highland dance lessons. By her
1999 wedding to Harry, she was advancing quickly through the competitive ranks. Today, she is a Premier dancer who
competes and performs regularly with several bands Harry teaches. She is temporarily not competing due to a severe
achilles tendon injury, however her rehabilitation is far enough along for her to perform in shows.

Like Betty, Dawn also provides support services as a "Band Wife" - which makes her chief water-bearer and
stuff-lugger for City of Washington at North Americans and Worlds each year. (She's the one with all the water
bottles...or the rolling water cooler!) After her achilles injury, she joined the Calvert and Crossland Pipe Band, grade IV,
as a tenor drummer. She competed with the band in 2005 as a rhythm tenor. Since the band's demise, she is playing
tenor (rhythm and flourish) for the MacMillan Grade III Pipe Band.

For Meade Custom Drumming Supplies, Dawn provides all of the web design and marketing as well as assisting with
drum carrier assembly and product brainstorming. To contact Dawn about this web page, you can email her at
webmaster@bobmeade.com.

Betsy Meade
Betsy Meade is Bob and Betty's daughter, Harry's younger sister. She is a consummate musician who plays the
clarinet, flute, saxophone, piano, guitar, electric bass guitar, upright string bass, and any number of percussion
instruments including bodhran, bass drum, flourish and rhythm tenor, and snare drum. She has been in both marching
bands and bagpipe bands since childhood. She graduated from Western Maryland College in 2002 with a degree in
Performance Music with her primary instrument being the clarinet. She teaches private students and band camp
students in clarinet and other woodwinds.

In the pipe band world, Betsy has played with a number of bands from Grade V to Grade III. Most recently, she was the
Drum Sergeant and Lead Stroke of the Calvert and Crossland Pipe Band, grade IV (formerly known as the Baltimore
Police Emerald Society Pipe Band, grade IV), however she is taking a break from pipe band drumming to pursue her
Master's Degree in Music Education. She assists Meade Custom Drumming Supplies with mallet and stick
manufacturing and with tuning of drums with her near-perfect pitch. To contact Betsy, you can email her at
betsy@bobmeade.com.

Kate Plummer
Katie is the "adopted" honorary Meade daughter. Like the rest of the Meades, she is a musician, playing trombone and
piano. Her most valuable contribution to Meade Custom Drumming Supplies, however, is in her ongoing role as official
house- and pet-sitter when the Meades travel to Games for competitions, performances and sales. She is responsible
for Morie and Nessie, Bob and Betty's cats, on every Games day. She also cares for Harry and Dawn's Westie, Arwen,
when the terrier is not able to attend the games with the family. You can contact Kate to say "hi" at
kate@bobmeade.com.
